AFROMUSE – ‘intercultural project‘ – poetry, food, art exhibition, art and music performances, fashion ‘black tribe‘ and concert

 

SA, 11.10.2025 | 12-22 h | In encounter and dialogue: Epixode (Ghana), Mbagaan Ndour (Senegal), Amarkine Amarteifio (Ghana), Claudia Salm (Germany) and Gabriele Musebrink (Germany) present their art forms and invite you to join in and enjoy.

Different art forms from different continents - an experiment of encounters from the moment at this event and with the visitors.

This festival is characterised by diversity, creativity and cultural solidarity and places a special focus on intercultural exchange.

With AFROMUSE, we not only want to create an inspiring cultural experience, but also offer a platform for understanding and peace within our society. We are concerned with visibility, participation and dialogue between cultures - open, respectful and lively.

We were delighted to receive cultural funding from the city of Essen.

The responsible artists:

Epixode, Theophilus Nii Arday Otoo

Epixode, Theophilus Nii Arday Otoo is a musician from Ghana. Epixode is also a visual designer, fashion designer for the label ‘Black Tribe’, filmmaker and painter. ‘Music is an art that touch the hearts of many! So too visual and handcraft works! Whenever a piece of art is created an artist gives part of his/her cultural heritage and like magic it comes to life.’
Mbagaan Nduur

Mbagaan Nduur is a painter and visual designer from Senegal who lives in Karlsruhe. He writes texts and organises various art events. ‘Cultural roots and universal connection through art’
Amarkine Amarteifio

Amarkine Amarteifio is a painter and sculptor from Ghana. He also writes poetry and is a lyricist. ‘The underlying philosophy of my works is a picture of a world where human connection transcends all divisions and boundaries between self and other.’
Claudia Salm

Claudia Salm is a painter from Schwerte, Germany. She is also a teacher at the Frida Kahlo School in Dortmund. ‘Seelenlanschaften - Art reveals the unseen’
Gabriele Musebrink

Gabriele Musebrink is a painter and founder and director of Hofwerkstatt, Germany. The ‘process painting of intuitive power’ developed by her is a painting of transformation. ‘Art is a reflection and sensing of the processes of nature and life’

The band KRUS and other artists have been invited to take part in the project.

However, a project like this requires not only passion and commitment, but also strong partners. We are therefore looking for companies, institutions and individuals who share our vision and would like to help us realise this festival through financial or in-kind support.

Kebba Bojang

Kebba Bojang is a master drummer from Gambia who lives in Witten. For over 30 years he has nurtured the traditional African drumming culture, offering private and group lessons, workshops, and concerts. He serves as an instructor at various adult education centers. “West African drumming fills people with intense energy and dynamism! It moves you through its authenticity, temperament, and zest for life!”
